Did You Know?

When I go to people’s homes to work with their dog(s), they expect that I will miraculously heal their furry family member(s) within the 3 hours I am there! Wrong! I tell people before I ever schedule them that I am a dog trainer and that I go into their homes to educate THEM; not to fix their dog within the time I am there. Every dog owner needs to understand that the people are the problem, not the dog (in most cases so don’t write to me telling me otherwise), simply because the dog has come to understand that YOU do not know what you are doing so, they take over as the Alpha and assume control over the home and surroundings! Yes, it is that simple. I come into the home to educate and teach the dog owners how to take back the control and help the dog to learn how to relax and just be happy to be a dog. See, here’s the issue: The Alpha (aka Pack Leader) just like a parent, assumes the role of the Head of the Pack be it human or dog; therefore, assuming all leadership roles which include worrying about where the next meal is going to come from, what stranger is at the door or walking by, what is that strange noise, who is this stranger in my home, where is my human (aka pack member) or child, why is this unknown animal in MY lair (aka home). So, you see, when the dog assumes the role of Alpha of the human home, they also assume ALL of the worries except in a different way because dog’s do not have the same worries as humans although similarly in other ways. Once the dog assumes that role, the behaviors begin, especially separation anxiety, destruction of property, issues with fighting and feeding just to name a few. This is why it is so important to start working with your dog when you first bring it home! By doing this, you will avoid a ton of issues that most people have with their furry family members.

Teaching dogs has been a passion my entire life. When I learned how to train dogs in a gentler way, the way the dog learned was phenomenal. This way of teaching is definitely a game-changer!
