Potty Training Tips!

Either way, it is very important to start EARLY with potty training. I have started as soon as the pup comes off the tits. I’ve used a bell on the door, ring it, and tell the pup, “Go potty!” or whatever your word is. I’ve used “Sit!” at the door and many others. But the important thing is to be aware of the dog’s potty habits and adapt your schedule to that. I know that seems to be off the cuff because most want the dog to be on the people schedule, but that just isn’t the case. Now: if you want your dog to be on your schedule, then you must adapt the dog to certain times you get up, let them out, feeding, lunch (if you feed your dog more than once a day), afternoon breaks, dinner and nighttime routines. It is important to keep the schedule routine. If you don’t, then your dog can get off kilter. Dog's, just like people, are creatures of habit: everything they do is according to a schedule. It doesn’t matter if they live in the wild or are domesticated: they are always on schedule!

Teaching dogs has been a passion my entire life. When I learned how to train dogs in a gentler way, the way the dog learned was phenomenal. This way of teaching is definitely a game-changer!
