Why Is Door Dashing Important?
Door Dashing is when your dog dashes through the door before you when it is opened. Why is this important to avoid? Because the dog is saying to you, “I know you don’t know where you are going, so let me show you the way!” Yes! Literally, that is what the dog is thinking. As a dog psychologist, I can tell you the dog believes you need help, so they are going to lead the way, just like with walking on the leash! You MUST make the dog sit at the door, wait for you to open the door, then wait for the release command: (mine is OKAY!”) and then allow all dogs to exit. Otherwise, the dog will attempt to show you the way!
